Africa Day is a moment of reflection on the continentβs past, present and future. It is also an opportunity to reconsider how development is understood and measured.
Too often, Africa is framed primarily through economic growth indicators. While economic progress is important, it does not capture the full reality of human life and societal transformation.
Development is also about people; their dignity, wellbeing, lived experiences and the systems that shape their daily realities. When these dimensions are overlooked, our understanding of progress becomes incomplete.
The AMORE Framework approaches development from this broader perspective. It emphasizes mental health, psychosocial care, human dignity, wellbeing and the structural systems that influence human life.
Africaβs future cannot be fully understood through economic growth alone. It must be understood through the lived realities of its people and the complexity of its social systems.
On this Africa Day, the reminder is simple: DEVELOPMENT MUST REMAIN HUMAN AT ITS CORE.Β
